Twinning with Azkaine `ondarea zainduz´ in lesaka

Next weekend, the Ondarea Zainduz (taking care of heritage) project is to be set in motion in Lesaka. This is a programme which seeks to contribute towards valuing the cultural heritage of this town of Bortziriak and more specifically its heritage in terms of historical monuments. This project is being developed within the framework of the twinning between Lesaka and Azkaine and which is being promoted by the initiative of the Udalbiltza Hurbiltzen programme.

The main act will take place on the 22nd of June at 17:30, and will consist of a walk guided by residents of Lesaka for the visitors from Azkaine. During this walk, the historical development of Lesaka will be explained, with the mark of historic monuments left by the people of Lesaka over the course of time bearing witness to this.


One day before, on Saturday the 21st of June during the morning and in the council chamber of the town hall, a lecture will be given in which the different experiences in terms of valuing cultural heritage on a local and regional level will be explained. Representatives from Azkaine are to take part in this with `La nuit du patrimoine´ project; from Lumbier on the repercussion in the area of Nafarroa Oinez 2003 (the annual ikastola fiesta in Navarra); from Baztandarren Biltzarra, from the Zubieta Mill; representatives from Nabarralde on the hereditary wealth of Navarra; from the Irun XXI Forum and Euskokultur Fundazioa, on the `Antso III.a Handia: Nafarroa Osoa Gogoan´ project and representatives from Lesaka itself explaining about the Ondarea Zainduz project.

Ondarea Zainduz is a programme organized by the town hall of Lesaka and HURBILTZEN (the twinning programme promoted by UDALBILTZA), in collaboration with the City Twinning Programme of the European Union.
