The Basque language in businesses

The Town Council of UHARTE, together with those of BERRIOZAR, CENDEA de OLZA and CIZUR MAYOR, are to implement the `EUSKARA ZURE ESKU´ and `EUSKARA MERKATARITZARA´ projects.

UDALBIDE Elkarlan Elkartea collaborates with these councils on the latter to make the signs over shops/businesses in the towns/villages mentioned bilingual, Basque-Castilian.

The aim is to create a fund to help with the costs of new signs for those businesses which wish to take part in the project (maximum: € 300 per business). 95 are currently interested in the idea.

The aim is to make significant impact on the linguistic landscape of the area in the medium term. The long-term consequences may affect the use of the Basque language.
