Ohakoa nursery school in Biarritz

The Ohakoa nursery school, founded in 1997, is the only Basque-language nursery school in the entire Northern Basque Country (Iparralde). Until now it has had permission for 15 children. It has a staff of 5.

The nursery school is run by a parents’ association with the same name. The building is provided by the Council of Biarritz and CAF (Caisse d´Alocation Familiale) and DSD (Social Service of the Department of the Atlantic Pyrenees).

Thanks to the work of recent years, the council has decided to build a new, larger building. CAF is also helping towards the building and furnishing costs involved in this new stage, but, as this is not enough, UDALBIDE Elkarlan Elkartea is helping to fund the most expensive component, the kitchen.

With the new building, the number of children will grow from 15 to 18.
