Strengthening international relations

EUSKARA KULTURA ELKARGOA believes contact with Europe to be of the utmost importance. For this reason, it aims to strengthen its international relations.

EKE and UDALBIDE believe it necessary that the situation of the Basque language in Navarre (Nafarroa) be made public in and before the international media.

At present, when the Basque language is mentioned beyond the borders of the Basque Country, reference is only made to the situation and reality of the Basque Autonomous Community (CAV), meaning that a large number of Basque-speakers (i.e. those from the Southern Basque Country (Iparralde) and Navarre) are not reflected.

That is why it is vital that the voice of Navarre be heard in the international forum.

Given the situation, the planned actions are:

- Forums for Diversity, EBLUL (European Bureau for Lesser Used Languages).

- To take the Second Report on Navarre on the Application of the Charter of Minority Languages and Regions before the European Council.

- In addition to Europe, it is also necessary to disseminate the situation of the Basque language in Navarre worldwide. To this end, the importance of the Web site is undeniable.




Disseminating the situation of the Basque language worldwide


Following on from the explanations given in the previous project, the aim of this project is to disseminate the situation of the Basque language in Navarre worldwide.
As a result, EUSKARA KULTUR ELKARGOA, aided by UDALBIDE, has created its own Web site.

These are the objectives it hopes to achieve:

- To reflect the situation of the Basque language in Navarre.

- To inform as to the abuse suffered by the Basque language in Navarre.

- To establish contact with other Web sites which focus on matters such as Basque culture or minority languages.
